Most people install an infrared heater and then completely forget it exists. That’s fine—until a tube burns out five years later. The “Slide-In” Secret
Instead of hard-wiring everything into a permanent metal box, we went with a modular tray. Think of it like a drawer. The heating tube and the reflectors sit in a removable module. When a tube finally gives up the ghost, you don’t have to tear the whole unit off the ceiling. You just pull the module out, swap the element, and slide it back in. It turns a four-hour headache into a ten-minute job.That’s a huge difference when you’re on the clock.
The Trade-off
Now, look—nothing is perfect. Using modules means more connection points than a single, solid piece of metal. To make sure those connections don’t fail, we use heavy-duty, plug-and-play connectors. Does it make the heater a little bit bigger? Yeah, a tiny bit. But it means you never have to mess around with soldering or crimping wires while balanced on a ladder. It’s just easier.
A Word of Warning on Installation
Here is where things usually go wrong: the gap. You can’t just slap these against the ceiling. You need a specific amount of breathing room between the heater face and the ceiling to avoid “heat soak.” If you mount it too close, the heat gets trapped against the ceiling. Over time, that’s how you end up with peeling paint or warped materials. We’ve spec’d our units with a very specific clearance gap so the air can actually move and carry that waste heat away.
