
Stopping the Headache of Uneven Heat in KHS Blowing Machines
Ever pull a batch of PET bottles off the line and see those annoying white streaks—that pearlescence—or notice a few spots that just didn’t stretch right? It’s frustrating. Usually, it comes down to the heat field in your KHS machine being out of whack. You get these “hot spots” and “cold spots” that mess with the wall thickness, leaving you with bottles that are structurally weak in some places and too thick in others. We got tired of seeing people struggle with this, so we built a set of replacement infrared lamps designed to actually fix those gaps.
Why some lamps just… fail
Here is the thing: thermal uniformity comes down to the tiny details. If the filament isn’t wound perfectly or the quartz glass is low-grade, you’re in trouble. We use high-purity quartz. Why? Because it doesn’t soak up the infrared energy itself. Instead, it lets that heat pass straight through to the preform where it belongs. We also tightened the tolerances on the filament winding to stop those erratic heat spikes you get with cheaper tubes. The result is a smooth, consistent radiation pattern. You can finally stop chasing the temperature dial every time you start a new batch. It just stays stable.
Getting them into your machine
You don’t need to rewire your entire floor to make these work. We kept them as direct replacements for OEM KHS specs. They use standard R7s and Sk15 connectors, so they just slide right into your existing sockets. We also matched the wattage and voltage to your power rail, which means you won’t have to worry about them burning out prematurely. One quick tip, though. These lamps pack a lot of heat density. If your reflectors are covered in grime, the lamp has to work twice as hard to push the heat through the dirt. That kills the filament. Keep those reflectors polished and your lamps will last much longer.
